Water & Oil Technologies, Inc. has developed cost effective technology to treat high lipid bearing freshwater or marine algae . The treatment allows for complete recovery and phase separation of cultivated high lipid bearing algae from either open pond, or closed loop bioreactors.

The water phase can be recycled back to the algae cultivation process used, while the the high lipid bearing algae can then be processed to provide algal oil, and algal biomass. This process can be scaled to any production volume desired, the technology is only limited by the volume of the high lipid bearing algae that can be supplied for harvesting.
